Admirable zines: Hearts & Farts

Today I received my third issue of "Hearts & Farts" in the post, this triggered me to make a blog post about the zine as a whole.

Hearts & Farts is "a body positive and body acceptance zine that focuses around personal battles with body image" curated by the wonderful Stephanie Simonetti. I first came across this zine on tumblr, and I have enjoyed reading and submitting my work to the zine for 3 issues now, hoping to continue. What I love about Hearts & Farts is that it has such a personal feel to it; the artists submit their own stories of how they hated, then began to accept their body, they have taken beautiful photographs of themselves and others, embracing the fact that they are indeed beautiful!

This zine aims to motivate and be inspirational to those who read it; it goes against the constant weight loss programs we read in our magazines, and how nonstop pressure from society make's our bodies feel disgusting and undesirable.

Thanks to Stephanie, people can read this wonderful zine and begin to feel beautiful again. It shows how normal peoples bodies look, that we are not all born with killer cheekbones and rock hard abs. We have to embrace what we are given, but to do that we must banish all thoughts of not being good enough, and feeling inferior to those who "have it all".

Overall, this zine is one that deserves so much more recognition because its message is clear and needs to be heard. Begin to love your body and so will the world!
